Ano ang Zodiac Sign Ko? The Real Dates for All Twelve Signs
Search "ano ang zodiac sign ko" and you will find a dozen tables that almost agree. One says Scorpio starts on October 23, another says October 24. If your birthday sits on one of those days, you have probably been told two different signs your whole life.
Both tables are trying to be right. The problem is that the zodiac does not run on the calendar.
What a sign actually is
Your zodiac sign, the one people mean when they ask "what's your sign?", is your Sun sign. It is simply where the Sun stood in the sky on the day you were born. The sky is divided into twelve equal slices of 30 degrees each, and the Sun takes about a month to cross each one.
The Sun does not cross into the next slice at the same moment every year. Our calendar has 365 days, a real year is about a quarter of a day longer, and the leap year pulls it back every four years. So the changeover drifts by a few hours from year to year, and sometimes those hours push it across midnight into a different date.
The dates, in Philippine time
We worked out the exact moment the Sun entered each sign for every year from 1950 to 2010, then converted it to Philippine time. This is what came out.
| Sign | Usually starts | Some years starts |
|---|---|---|
| Aries | March 21 | March 20 |
| Taurus | April 20 | April 21 |
| Gemini | May 21 | May 22 |
| Cancer | June 21 or 22 | about half and half |
| Leo | July 23 | July 22 or 24 |
| Virgo | August 23 | August 24 |
| Libra | September 23 | September 22 or 24 |
| Scorpio | October 23 or 24 | about half and half |
| Sagittarius | November 22 | November 23 |
| Capricorn | December 22 | December 21 or 23 |
| Aquarius | January 20 | January 21 |
| Pisces | February 19 | February 18 or 20 |
Each sign runs until the day before the next one starts. So a Taurus is usually born from April 20 to May 20, and a Gemini from May 21 to June 20 or 21.
Why Filipino birthdays get the wrong answer more often
Most of the tables online were written in America or Europe. When the Sun changes sign late at night in New York, it is already the next morning in Manila. A table made for New York time can be a full day off for someone born in the Philippines, and that one day is exactly the day that matters for people born on the edge.
If your birthday is on an edge day
The only way to settle it is to look at your actual year, not a table. That is what Bituin does. When you sign up you give your full birth date, not just the month, and the app calculates where the Sun really was that day, in Philippine time.
If you also know the time you were born and the city, Bituin uses the exact minute. If you do not, it uses midday, which settles almost every birthday. The full date matters more than people expect: it decides not just your sign, but where every planet stood for you.
