Zodiac Compatibility Without the Percentage
Type two signs into any compatibility site and you get a number. Gemini and Capricorn, 43%. Three sites later it is 71%. None of them say where the number came from, because it did not come from anywhere.
Astrology never scored people. What it did was look at where two signs sit on the wheel and describe how they see each other from there. That description is far more useful than a percentage, and it is the same answer every time.
The angle between two signs
Count how many signs apart the two are, going the short way round the wheel. That number decides the angle between them.
| Apart | Angle | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | The same sign | One position, one view of the world, and every blind spot shared. |
| 1 | Averse | No angle at all. They cannot see each other. |
| 2 | Sextile | They see each other easily. Help is there without either one working for it. |
| 3 | Square | The hardest angle. Both want to move, neither can move the other's way. |
| 4 | Trine | Same element. They agree on what matters without ever discussing it. |
| 5 | Averse | No angle at all. They cannot see each other. |
| 6 | Opposition | Facing across the whole wheel. Each is exactly what the other is missing. |
The pairs that cannot see each other
This is the part that surprises people. Signs that are next to each other, like Aries and Taurus, and signs five apart, like Aries and Virgo, make no angle at all. In the older sources they are called averse: they cannot see each other.
That does not mean they are enemies. It means each one genuinely cannot make out what the other is doing. If you have ever loved someone and still had no idea why they did what they did, look at how far apart your signs are.
Pull and friction are the same thing
Opposite signs, like Aries and Libra or Cancer and Capricorn, sit as far apart as possible. Each has exactly what the other lacks. That is why opposites attract, and also why they fight about the same thing for years. The pull and the friction are one force.
When one planet rules both
Some pairs share a ruling planet. Gemini and Virgo are both ruled by Mercury, Taurus and Libra by Venus, Aries and Scorpio by Mars, Sagittarius and Pisces by Jupiter, Capricorn and Aquarius by Saturn. Each one watches the other use its own planet in a way it would never choose. Gemini scatters what Mercury carries, Virgo sorts it. They are a square as well, so they collide over it.
Why Bituin does not give a score
A score is a judgement passed on a real person who never agreed to be read. Bituin does not hand one down. When you add someone from your life, the app works out the facts between your two signs, the angle, the elements, the modality, a shared ruler, and their sign tells you what those mean, in its own voice. You get an explanation, not a grade.
